General
Campers will participate in a wide variety of organized cheer and gymnastics based activities while also filling their day with time on the playground, field, and gym.
While the day is very active, we also include daily enrichments such as arts and crafts, board games, Legos, Magnatiles, chess, and D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read). Groups rotate to a new activity every 30–45 minutes, ensuring a consistent schedule with fresh activities each day.
At Way2Play CHEER, our top priority is camper safety, participation, and enjoyment. Campers are grouped by age (typically K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-6th) with a target coach-to-camper ratio of 1:12. In our youngest groups, coaches-in-training provide additional support.
Preparation for Camp:
- Attire: Comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes.
- Food & Drink: Please pack a morning snack, afternoon snack, lunch, and a reusable water bottle.
- Reading: A book is recommended for D.E.A.R. time, though campers may also borrow from our library.
Way2PlayCHEER is fully staffed from 8am-6pm so feel free to use whatever hours work best for you and you’re
your family.
Campers should wear clothes that are comfortable to play in along with closed toed shoes. They will need to pack a morning and afternoon snack, lunch, reusable water bottle to refill. A book is also recommended for our D.E.A.R. time in the afternoons but we also
have a library should your camper want to borrow one of ours.
Campers are grouped by age/grade with most weeks having 3 or 4 groups: K/1st , 2nd /3rd , and 4th -6th .
Our goal is to have a coach to camper ratio of 1:12 with most groups averaging anywhere between 20-
25 campers. In our youngest age group coaches in training are added as an extra set of hands to help with whatever is needed.
At Way2Play CHEER we have 3 levels of coaches: head coaches, assistant coaches, and coaches in training.
Our head coaches are made up of adults who work in a school setting when not at Way2Play CHEER and college aged students who are education/recreation majors.
Our assistant coaches are older high school students who have been through our coaches in training
program and attended Way2Cheer when they were younger.
Our coaches in training are freshman and sophomores in high school who like our assistant coaches,
attended Way2Play CHEER in the past, and want to continue with us in a new role.
